Introduction

• A 40-verse hymn dedicated to the nine planetary deities (Navgrahas) in Hindu astrology:
  – Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu, and Ketu.
• Each planet symbolizes a specific cosmic force influencing different aspects of life — like intellect, health, karma, relationships, and wealth.
• Regular recitation of the Navgrah Chalisa helps reduce astrological afflictions such as Shani Dosh, Mangal Dosh, Rahu-Ketu Dosh, and others.
• It promotes inner peace, mental clarity, protection, and balance in life by harmonizing planetary energies.
• Best recited on Saturdays, during Navgrah Puja, or during challenging planetary transits and personal life phases.

Doha (Invocation)

श्री गणपति गुरुपद कमल, प्रेम सहित सिरनाय।
नवग्रह चालीसा कहत, शारद होत सहाय॥

Shree Ganapati Gurupad Kamal, Prem Sahit Sir Naay।
Navgrah Chalisa Kahat, Sharad Hot Sahay॥
I bow lovingly to Lord Ganesha and the lotus feet of my Guru. With the help of Goddess Saraswati, I now begin the Navgraha Chalisa.

जय जय रवि शशि सोम बुध, जय गुरु भृगु शनि राज।
जयति राहु अरु केतु ग्रह, करहु अनुग्रह आज॥

Jai Jai Ravi Shashi Som Budh, Jai Guru Bhrigu Shani Raaj।
Jayati Rahu Aru Ketu Grah, Karahu Anugrah Aaj॥
Hail to the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn! Hail also to Rahu and Ketu! May you all bless me today.

 Shri Surya Stuti (Sun Praise)

प्रथमहि रवि कहँ नावौं माथा। करहुं कृपा जनि जानि अनाथा॥
Prathamahi Ravi Kahan Naavun Maatha। Karahun Kripa Jani Jaani Anaatha॥
Firstly, I bow my head to the Sun. Be kind to me and don’t treat me as an orphan.

हे आदित्य दिवाकर भानू। मैं मति मंद महा अज्ञानू॥
Hey Aaditya Divakar Bhanu। Main Mati Mand Maha Agyanu॥
O Aditya, radiant Sun God, I am dull-minded and greatly ignorant.

अब निज जन कहँ हरहु कलेषा। दिनकर द्वादश रूप दिनेशा॥
Ab Nij Jan Kahan Harahu Kalesha। Dinkar Dwadash Roop Dinesha॥
Now, remove the sufferings of your devotee, O Sun, who has twelve forms.

नमो भास्कर सूर्य प्रभाकर। अर्क मित्र अघ मोघ क्षमाकर॥
Namo Bhaskar Surya Prabhakar। Ark Mitra Agh Mogh Kshamakar॥
Salutations to Bhaskar, the source of light, friend of all, and forgiver of sins.

Shri Chandra Stuti (Moon Praise)

शशि मयंक रजनीपति स्वामी। चन्द्र कलानिधि नमो नमामि॥
Shashi Mayank Rajnipati Swami। Chandra Kalanidhi Namo Namaami॥
Hail to the moon, lord of night, full of soothing nectar.

राकापति हिमांशु राकेशा। प्रणवत जन तन हरहुं कलेशा॥
Raakapati Himanshu Rakesha। Pranavat Jan Tan Harahun Kalesha॥
O lord of the full moon, you bring coolness—remove the pain of your devotees.

सोम इन्दु विधु शान्ति सुधाकर। शीत रश्मि औषधि निशाकर॥
Som Indu Vidhu Shaanti Sudhakar। Sheet Rashmi Aushadhi Nishakar॥
You are called Soma, Indu, Vidhu, and giver of peace, light, and healing rays.

तुम्हीं शोभित सुन्दर भाल महेशा। शरण शरण जन हरहुं कलेशा॥
Tumhi Shobhit Sundar Bhaal Mahesha। Sharan Sharan Jan Harahun Kalesha॥
You adorn the forehead of Lord Shiva. Protect those who surrender to you.

 Shri Mangal Stuti (Mars Praise)

जय जय जय मंगल सुखदाता। लोहित भौमादिक विख्याता॥
Jai Jai Jai Mangal Sukhdaata। Lohit Bhaumaadik Vikhyata॥
Hail to you, Mars, known as the red planet and the giver of happiness.

अंगारक कुज रुज ऋणहारी। करहु दया यही विनय हमारी॥
Angarak Kuj Ruj Rinahaari। Karahu Daya Yahi Vinay Hamaari॥
Angaraka (Mars), remover of diseases and debts—please have mercy on me.

हे महिसुत छितिसुत सुखराशी। लोहितांग जय जन अघनाशी॥
Hey Mahisut Chitisut Sukha Rashi। Lohitang Jai Jan Aghanashi॥
O son of the Earth, embodiment of comfort, red-hued and destroyer of sins.

अगम अमंगल अब हर लीजै। सकल मनोरथ पूरण कीजै॥
Agam Amangal Ab Har Leejai। Sakal Manorath Pooran Keejai॥
Remove inauspiciousness and fulfill all my wishes.

 Shri Budh Stuti (Mercury Praise)

जय शशि नन्दन बुध महाराजा। करहु सकल जन कहँ शुभ काजा॥
Jai Shashi Nandan Budh Maharaja। Karahu Sakal Jan Kahan Shubh Kaaja॥
Hail to Mercury, son of the Moon! Make everyone's work auspicious.

दीजै बुद्धि बल सुमति सुजाना। कठिन कष्ट हरि करि कल्याणा॥
Deejai Buddhi Bal Sumati Sujaana। Kathin Kasht Hari Kari Kalyaana॥
Grant wisdom, strength, and good intellect. End our troubles and bless us.

हे तारासुत रोहिणी नन्दन। चन्द्रसुवन दुख द्वन्द्व निकन्दन॥
Hey Tarasut Rohini Nandan। Chandrasuvan Dukh Dwand Nikandan॥
Son of Tara and Moon, destroyer of duality and sorrow.

पूजहु आस दास कहुं स्वामी। प्रणत पाल प्रभु नमो नमामी॥
Poojahu Aas Daas Kahun Swami। Pranat Paal Prabhu Namo Namaami॥
This servant hopes in you. O protector of the bowed, I salute you.

 Shri Brihaspati Stuti (Jupiter Praise)

जयति जयति जय श्री गुरुदेवा। करों सदा तुम्हरी प्रभु सेवा॥
Jayati Jayati Jay Shree Gurudeva। Karon Sada Tumhari Prabhu Seva॥
All glory to Guru Brihaspati! I always serve you, O divine preceptor.

देवाचार्य तुम देव गुरु ज्ञानी। इन्द्र पुरोहित विद्यादानी॥
Devacharya Tum Dev Guru Gyani। Indra Purohit Vidya Daani॥
You are the guru of gods, wise, and the priest of Indra, giver of knowledge.

वाचस्पति बागीश उदारा। जीव बृहस्पति नाम तुम्हारा॥
Vachaspati Bagish Udaara। Jeev Brihaspati Naam Tumhaara॥
Known as Vachaspati (lord of speech), you are kind and called Brihaspati.

विद्या सिन्धु अंगिरा नामा। करहु सकल विधि पूरण कामा॥
Vidya Sindhu Angira Naama। Karahu Sakal Vidhi Pooran Kaama॥
Ocean of learning, son of Angira—fulfill all righteous desires.

 Shri Shukra Stuti (Venus Praise)

शुक्र देव पद तल जल जाता। दास निरन्तन ध्यान लगाता॥
Shukra Dev Pad Tal Jal Jaata। Daas Nirantan Dhyaan Lagaata॥
I meditate constantly on Venus whose feet are as cooling as water.

हे उशना भार्गव भृगु नन्दन। दैत्य पुरोहित दुष्ट निकन्दन॥
Hey Ushna Bhargav Bhrigu Nandan। Daitya Purohit Dusht Nikandan॥
Son of Bhrigu, priest of demons, you destroy the wicked.

भृगुकुल भूषण दूषण हारी। हरहु नेष्ट ग्रह करहु सुखारी॥
Bhrigukul Bhushan Dooshan Haari। Harahu Nesht Grah Karahu Sukhari॥
Ornament of Bhrigu’s lineage, remover of flaws—neutralize malefic planets and grant joy.

तुहि द्विजबर जोशी सिरताजा। नर शरीर के तुमहीं राजा॥
Tuhi Dwijbar Joshi Sirtaaja। Nar Shareer Ke Tumhi Raja॥
Best among Brahmins, you are the crown of astrologers and ruler of human passions.

Shri Shani Stuti (Saturn Praise)

जय श्री शनिदेव रवि नन्दन। जय कृष्णो सौरी जगवन्दन॥
Jai Shree Shanidev Ravi Nandan। Jai Krishno Sauri Jagvandan॥
Hail Shani, son of the Sun! Dark-hued, praised by the world.

पिंगल मन्द रौद्र यम नामा। वप्र आदि कोणस्थ ललामा॥
Pingal Mand Raudra Yam Naama। Vapr Aadi Kohnasth Lalaama॥
Known by many names: Pingal, Mand, Raudra, Yam, etc., the great in the zodiac.

वक्र दृष्टि पिप्पल तन साजा। क्षण महँ करत रंक क्षण राजा॥
Vakra Drishti Pippal Tan Saaja। Kshan Mah Karat Rank Kshan Raja॥
Your crooked glance brings transformation—making a beggar king and vice versa in moments.

ललत स्वर्ण पद करत निहाला। हरहु विपत्ति छाया के लाला॥
Lalat Swarn Pad Karat Nihaala। Harahu Vipatti Chhaya Ke Laala॥
Your golden glance blesses—O child of shadow, remove our troubles

Shri Rahu Stuti (Rahu Praise)

जय जय राहु गगन प्रविसइया। तुमही चन्द्र आदित्य ग्रसइया॥
Jai Jai Rahu Gagan Pravisaiya।Tumhi Chandra Aaditya Grasaiya॥
Hail Rahu, who moves through the sky and swallows the Sun and Moon (causing eclipses).

रवि शशि अरि स्वर्भानु धारा।शिखी आदि बहु नाम तुम्हारा॥
Ravi Shashi Ari Swarbhaanu Dhaara।Shikhi Aadi Bahu Naam Tumhaara॥
Known also as Swarbhanu and by many other names such as Shikhi, enemy of Sun and Moon.

सैहिंकेय तुम निशाचर राजा।अर्धकाय जग राखहु लाजा॥
Saihinkey Tum Nishaachar Raaja।Ardhkaay Jag Raakhahu Laaja॥
You are the king of demons, half-bodied, preserve the dignity of the world.

यदि ग्रह समय पाय कहिं आवहु। सदा शान्ति और सुख उपजावहु॥
Yadi Grah Samay Paay Kahin Aavahu।Sadaa Shaanti Aur Sukh Upjaavahu॥
When your influence arises, may you bring peace and well-being instead of turmoil.

 Shri Ketu Stuti (Ketu Praise)

जय श्री केतु कठिन दुखहारी। करहु सुजन हित मंगलकारी॥
Jai Shri Ketu Kathin Dukhhaari।Karahu Sujan Hit Mangalkaari॥
Hail Ketu, remover of difficult sorrows and giver of auspiciousness to the good.

ध्वजयुत रुण्ड रूप विकराला। घोर रौद्रतन अघमन काला॥
Dhwajayut Rund Roop Vikraala।Ghor Raudratan Aghaman Kaala॥
You carry a flag, have a fierce headless form—formidable and destroyer of sins.

शिखी तारिका ग्रह बलवान। महा प्रताप न तेज ठिकाना॥
Shikhi Taarika Grah Balvaan।Maha Prataap Na Tej Thikaana॥
Strong planet, flag-bearing and bird-like; your power and brilliance are boundless.

वाहन मीन महा शुभकारी।दीजै शान्ति दया उर धारी॥
Vaahan Meen Maha Shubhkaari।Deejai Shaanti Daya Ur Dhaari॥
Your mount is a fish; you bring great good fortune. Bestow peace and hold compassion in your heart.

Navgrah Shanti Phal 

तीरथराज प्रयाग सुपासा। बसै राम के सुन्दर दासा॥
Teerathraj Prayag Supaasa। Basai Ram Ke Sundar Daasa॥
This sacred text originates in Prayagraj, abode of devotees of Lord Rama.

ककरा ग्रामहिं पुरे-तिवारी।दुर्वासाश्रम जन दुख हारी॥
Kakra Graamhim Pure-Tiwaari। Durvasaashram Jan Dukh Haari॥
Composed in Kakra village by Pundit Tiwari, at Durvasa’s Ashram, the reliever of sorrow.

नवग्रह शान्ति लिख्यो सुख हेतु। जन तन कष्ट उतारण सेतू॥
Navgrah Shaanti Likhyo Sukh Hetu।Jan Tan Kasht Utaaran Setu॥
This Navgraha Chalisa was written for peace and joy, a bridge to remove bodily troubles.

जो नित पाठ करै चित लावै।सब सुख भोगि परम पद पावै॥
Jo Nit Paath Karai Chit Laavai। Sab Sukh Bhogi Param Pad Paavai॥
One who recites this daily with devotion attains all pleasures and ultimately liberation.
