॥ दोहा (प्रारंभ) ॥

ह्रीं श्रीं क्लीं मेधा प्रभा, जीवन ज्योति प्रचण्ड।
शान्ति कान्ति जागृत प्रगति, रचना शक्ति अखण्ड॥

Hrīṃ Śrīṃ Klīṃ medhā prabhā, jīvan jyotī prachaṇḍ.
śānti kānti jāgr̥ta pragati, racanā śakti akhaṇḍ.

Hrim, Shrim, Klim — O beneficent Medha (intelligence), fierce light of life!
May peace, brilliance, awakened progress, and unbroken creative power prevail.

जगत जननी मङ्गल करनि, गायत्री सुखधाम।
प्रणवों सावित्री स्वधा, स्वाहा पूरन काम॥

Jagat jananī maṅgal karani, gāyatrī sukhadhām.
praṇavõ Sāvitṛ Svadhá, Svāhā pūran kām.

Mother of the universe and bringer of auspiciousness, O Gayatri, abode of bliss!
You are Pranava, Savitri, Svadha, Swaha—fulfill all our desires.

॥ चौपाई ॥ 

भूर्भुवः स्वः ॐ युत् जननी, गायत्री नित् कलिमल दहनी॥
Bhur bhuvah svaḥ Om yut janani, gāyatrī nit kalimal dahani.
Mother of Bhur, Bhuvah and Svah, adorned with Om—O Gayatri who burns all impurities eternally.

अक्षर चौविस परम पुनीता, इनमें बसें शास्त्र श्रुति गीता॥
Akṣhar cauvis param punītā, inmẽ basẽ śāstra śruti-gītā.
Exalted and supremely pure in the 24 letters—she resides in scriptures, Vedas, and Gita.

शाश्वत सतोगुणी सत रूपा, सत्य सनातन सुधा अनुपा॥
Śāśvat satoguṇī sat rūpā, satya sanātan sudhā anupā.
Everlasting, virtuous, true, eternal, nectar-like and peerless in form.

हंसारूढ सिताम्बर धारी, स्वर्ण कान्ति शुचि गगन-बिहारी॥
Haṁsārūḍh sitāmbara dhārī, svarṇa kānti śuci gagan-bihārī.
Riding a swan, clothed in white, adorned in golden brilliance—pure and radiant like the sky.

पुस्तक पुष्प कमण्डलु माला, शुभ्र वर्ण तनु नयन विशाल॥
Pustak puṣp ka maṇḍalu mālā, śubhra varṇa tanu nayan viśāl.
Holding a book, flowers, kamandalu and garland, with fair complexion and wide gentle eyes.

ध्यान धरत पुलकित हित होई, सुख उपजत दुःख दुर्मति खोई॥
Dhyān dharat pulakit hit hoī, sukha upajat duḥkh durmati khoī.
Whoever meditates on her with devotion thrills with joy—bliss arises and suffering vanishes.

कामधेनु तुम सुर तरु छाया, निराकार की अद्भुत माया॥
Kāmadhenum tum sur taru chāyā, nirākār kī adbhut māyā.
You are the wish-fulfilling cow, sheltering gods like a divine tree—your formless form is wonderous Maya.

तुम्हरी शरण गहै जो कोई, तरै सकल संकट सों सोई॥
Tumharī śaraṇ gahai jo koī, tarai sakal saṅkaṭ soṃ soi.
Whoever takes refuge in you crosses all calamities safely.

सरस्वती लक्ष्मी तुम काली, दिपै तुम्हारी ज्योति निराली॥
Sarasvatī Lakṣmī tum Kālī, dipai tumharī jyoti nirālī.
You are Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Kali—your radiance is unique and divine.

तुम्हरी महिमा पार न पावैं, जो शारद शत मुख गुण गावैं॥
Tumhari mahimā pār na pāveṃ, jo Śārad śata mukha guṇa gāvaiṃ.
Your glory cannot be fully described even by a hundred Saraswaris reciting your virtues.

चार वेद की मात पुनीता, तुम ब्रह्माणी गौरी सीता॥
Cār ved kī māt punitā, tum Brahmāṇī Gaurī Sītā.
You are the revered mother of the four Vedas, Brahmani, Gauri, and Sita.

महामन्त्र जितने जग माहीं, कोउ गायत्री सम नाहीं॥
Mahāmanta jitne jag māhīn, ko’u Gāyatrī sam nahīn.
The greatest mantra in the universe—none equals the Gayatri.

सुमिरत हिय में ज्ञान प्रकटै, आलस पाप अविद्या नासै॥
Sumirat hiy meṃ jñān prakaṭai, ālas pāp avidyā nāsai.
One who remembers you in his heart—knowledge awakens, laziness, sin and ignorance vanish.

सृष्टि बीज जग जननि भवानी, कालरात्रि वरदा कल्याणी॥
Sṛṣṭi bīj jag janani Bhavānī, kāl rātri vardā kalyāṇī.
Mother of the universe, seed of creation, terrifying Kalaratri, bestower of boons and blessedness.

ब्रह्मा विष्णु रुद्र सुर जेते, तुम सों पावें सुरता तेते॥
Brahmā Viṣṇu Rudra sur jete, tum soṃ pāveṃ surtā tete.
Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and saints all remember you—and are endowed with remembrance because of you.

तुम भक्तन की भक्त तुम्हारे, जननिहिं पुत्र प्राण ते प्यारे॥
Tum bhaktan ki bhakt tumhāre, jananihiṃ putra prāṇ te pyāre.
Devoted to your devotees, beloved of many—your children and life are dear to you.

महिमा अपरम्पार तुम्हारी, जय जय जय त्रिपदा भयहारी॥
Mahimā aparampār tumhārī, jai jai jai tripadā bhayhārī.
Your glory is boundless—salutations to the trimurti-bearing Mother.

पूरित सकल ज्ञान विज्ञान, तूम सम अधिक न जग में आना॥
Pūrit sakal jñān vijñān, tum sam adhik na jag meṃ ānā.
The universe’s knowledge is filled—but none equals you.

तुमहिं जानि कछु रहै न शेषा, तुम्हहिं पाय कछु रहै न कलेशा॥
Tumhiṃ jānī kachu rahai na śeṣhā, tumhiṃ pāyai kachu rahai na kaleśhā.
Knowing only you, nothing else remains; having you, no suffering persists.

जानत तुमहिं तुमहिं वही जाई, पारस परसि कुधातु सुहाई॥
Jānat tumhiṃ tumhi vahī jāī, pāras parasāi kudhātu suhāī.
Who knows you, becomes you—like the philosopher’s stone that shines upon contact.

तुम्हरी शक्ति दिपै सब ठाई, माता तुम सब ठौर समाई॥
Tumharī śakti dipai sab ṭhāī, mātā tum sab ṭhaur samāī.
Your power shines everywhere—Mother, you pervade every place.

ग्रह नक्षत्र ब्रह्माण्ड घनेरे, सब गतिवान तुम्हारे प्रेरे॥
Grah nakṣhatr brahmāṇḍ ghanere, sab gativān tumhāre pre­re.
Planets, stars and cosmic world teeming—all movements are inspired by you.

सकल सृष्टि की प्राण विधाता, पालक पोषक नाशक त्राता॥
Sakal sṛṣṭi kī prāṇ vidhātā, pālak poṣhak nāśak trātā.
Life-giver, sustainer, destroyer and savior for all creation.

मातेश्वरी दया व्रत धारी, तुम सन तरे पातकी भारी॥
Māteśvarī dayā vrat dhārī, tum san tare pāṭakī bhārī.
O divine Mother, keeper of vows and compassion—you liberate from heavy sins.

जापर कृपा तुम्हारी होई, तापर कृपा करें सब कोई॥
Jāpar kripā tumhārī hoī, tāpar kripā kareṃ sab koī.
Upon reciting this, your grace comes; through your grace all others prosper.

मन्द बुद्धि ते बुधि बल पावें, रोगी रोग रहित हो जावें॥
Mand buddhi te buddhi-bal pāveṃ, rogī rog rahit ho jāveṃ.
From dull intellect comes clarity and strength; the sick become disease-free.

दरिद्र मिटै कटै सब पीरा, नाशै दुःख हरै भव भीरा॥
Daridr miṭai kaṭai sab pīrā, nāṣhai duḥkh harai bhav bhīrā.
Poverty and pain vanish; suffering is destroyed, fear of rebirth abates.

गृह क्लेश चित चिन्ता भारी, नासै गायत्री भय हारी॥
Gṛha kleś chita cintā bhārī, nāṣai gāyatrī bhay hārī.
Household strife, anxiety vanish—fear retreats before Gayatri.

सन्तति हीन सुसन्तति पावें, सुख संपत्ति युत मोद मनावें॥
Santati hīn susantati pāveṃ, sukha sampatti yut mod manāveṃ.
Childlessness turns to blessed progeny—bliss and wealth fill the mind.

भूत पिशाच सबै भय खावें, यम के दूत निकट नहिं आवें॥
Bhūt pishāc sabai bhay khāveṃ, Yam ke dūt nikat nahin āveṃ.
Ghosts and spirits fear her; death’s messengers cannot approach.

जो सधुवा सुमिरें चित लाई, अछत सुहाग सदा सुखदाई॥
Jo sadhuvā sumireṃ chit lāī, achhat suhāg sadā sukhadāī.
One who meditates earnestly receives eternal auspiciousness.

घर वर सुख प्रद लहैं कुमारी, विधवा रहें सत्य व्रत धारी॥
Ghar var sukh prad lahain kumārī, vidhvā raheṃ satya vrat dhārī.
Brides gain joy and sons; widows remain truthful keepers of vows.

जयति जयति जगदम्ब भवानी, तूम सम ओर दयालु न दानी॥
Jayati jayati Jagadambā Bhavānī, tum sam or dayālu na dānī.
Victory, victory, Mother of the Universe—none is as compassionate as you.

जो सतगुरु सो दीक्षा पावे, सो साधन को सफल बनावे॥
Jo satguru so dīkṣhā pāve, so sādhan ko samphal banāve.
One who receives sacred initiation becomes adept through your grace.

सुमिरन करे सुरूचि बडभागी, लहै मनोरथ गृहि विरागी॥
Sumiran kare surūchi baṛbhāgī, lahai manorath gharhi virāgī.
Devotees are fortunate—asr they recall you—their desires are fulfilled and they gain detachment.

अष्ट सिद्धि नवनिधि की दाता, सब समर्थ गायत्री माता॥
Aṣṭa siddhi navanidhi kī dātā, sab samarth Gāyatrī mātā.
Granter of eight spiritual powers and nine treasures—Mother Gayatri empowers all.

ऋषि मुनि यती तपस्वी योगी, आरत अर्थी चिन्तित भोगी॥
Ṛṣi muni yatī tapasvī yogī, ārata arthī cintit bhogī.
Sages, ascetics, yogis, the distressed, seekers and worried—

जो जो शरण तुम्हारी आवें, सो सो मन वांछित फल पावें॥
Jo jo śaraṇ tumhārī āveṃ, so so man vāñchhit phal pāveṃ.
Whoever surrenders to you attains his heart’s desired fruit.

बल बुधि विद्या शील स्वभाव, धन वैभव यश तेज उछाव।
Bal buddhi vidyā śīl svabhāv, dhan vaibhav yaś tej uchāv.
Strength, intellect, knowledge, character, wealth, glory, and radiance—all increase.

सकल बढ़ें उपजें सुख नाना, जे यह पाठ करै धरि ध्यान।
Sakal baṛheṃ upajeṃ sukh nānā, je yah pāṭh karai dharhi dhyān.
All growth and manifold joy come to those who recite this with devotion.

॥ दोहा (समापन) ॥

यह चालीसा भक्ति युत, पाठ करै जो कोई।
तापर कृपा प्रसन्नता, गायत्री की होय॥

Yah chālīsā bhakti yut, pāṭh karai jo koī.
Tāpar kripā prasannatā, Gāyatrī kī hoy.

This Chalisa is full of devotion—whoever recites it, may the grace of Gayatri be bestowed with delight.
