Introduction

दोहा:

जय गणेश गिरिजा सुवन, मंगल मूल सुजान।
कहत अयोध्यादास तुम, देहु अभय वरदान॥
Jai Ganesh Girija Suvan, Mangal Mool Sujaan.
Kahat Ayodhya Das Tum, Dehu Abhay Vardaan.
Victory to You, O Lord Ganesha, Son of Goddess Parvati, source of all auspiciousness and wisdom.
Ayodhya Das prays to You—grant the boon of fearlessness and protection.

जय गिरिजा पति दीन दयाला। सदा करत सन्तन प्रतिपाला॥
Jai Girija Pati Deen Dayala, Sada Karat Santan Pratipala.
Hail to Lord Shiva, consort of Parvati, compassionate to the meek, always protecting the saints.

भाल चन्द्रमा सोहत नीके। कानन कुण्डल नागफनी के॥
Bhaal Chandrama Sohat Neeke, Kanan Kundal Naagphani Ke.
A crescent moon shines on His forehead, He wears serpent-shaped earrings.

अंग गौर शिर गंग बहाये। मुण्डमाल तन क्षार लगाए॥
Ang Gaur Shir Gang Bahaaye, Mundmaal Tan Kshaar Lagaaye.
His body is fair; the Ganges flows from His hair. He wears a garland of skulls and is smeared with ash.

वस्त्र खाल बाघम्बर सोहे। छवि को देखि नाग मन मोहे॥
Vastra Khaal Baghambar Sohe, Chhavi Ko Dekhi Naag Man Mohe.
He is clothed in tiger skin, and even serpents are enchanted by His divine form.

मैना मातु की हवे दुलारी। बाम अंग सोहत छवि न्यारी॥
Maina Maatu Ki Have Dulaari, Baam Ang Sohat Chhavi Nyaari.
He is the beloved of Parvati, daughter of Maina. Her presence on His left enhances His beauty.

कर त्रिशूल सोहत छवि भारी। करत सदा शत्रुन क्षयकारी॥
Kar Trishool Sohat Chhavi Bhaari, Karat Sada Shatrun Kshaykaari.
The trident in His hand adds to His grandeur; He always destroys the wicked.

नन्दि गणेश सोहै तहँ कैसे। सागर मध्य कमल हैं जैसे॥
Nandi Ganesh Sohai Tahan Kaise, Saagar Madhya Kamal Hain Jaise.
Nandi and Ganesha adorn His court like lotus flowers in the ocean.

कार्तिक श्याम और गणराऊ। या छवि को कहि जात न काऊ॥
Kartik Shyaam Aur Ganraau, Ya Chhavi Ko Kahi Jaat Na Kaau.
With Him are Kartikeya and many other deities; such a divine form is beyond description.

देवन जबहीं जाय पुकारा। तब ही दुख प्रभु आप निवारा॥
Devan Jabahi Jaay Pukaara, Tab Hi Dukh Prabhu Aap Nivaara.
Whenever the gods called You in distress, O Lord, You removed their suffering.

किया उपद्रव तारक भारी। देवन सब मिलि तुमहिं जुहारी॥
Kiya Upadrav Taarak Bhaari, Devan Sab Mili Tumhin Juhaari.
When the demon Tarakasura caused destruction, all the gods together prayed to You.

तुरत षडानन आप पठायउ। लवनिमेष महँ मारि गिरायउ॥
Turat Shadanan Aap Pathaayau, Lavnimesh Mahin Maari Giraayau.
You immediately sent Your six-headed son Kartikeya, who destroyed Taraka in a blink.

आप जलंधर असुर संहारा। सुयश तुम्हार विदित संसारा॥
Aap Jalandhar Asur Sanhaara, Suyash Tumhaar Vidit Sansaara.
You defeated the demon Jalandhar. Your fame is known throughout the universe.

त्रिपुरासुर सन युद्ध मचाई। सभहिं कृपा कर लीन बचाई॥
Tripurasur San Yuddh Machaai, Sabhin Kripa Kar Leen Bachaai.
You fought the demon Tripurasura and saved everyone with Your divine grace.

किया तपहिं भागीरथ भारी। पुरब प्रतिज्ञा तासु पुरारी॥
Kiya Tapahi Bhagirath Bhaari, Purab Pratigya Tasu Puraari.
Bhagirath did great penance and You fulfilled his ancestral vow, O destroyer of sins.

दानिन महँ तुम सम कोउ नाहीं। सेवक स्तुति करत सदाहीं॥
Daanin Mah Tum Sam Kou Naahin, Sevak Stuti Karat Sadaahin.
No one equals You in generosity. Your devotees always sing Your praises.

वेद माहि महिमा तुम गाई। अकथ अनादि भेद नहिं पाई॥
Ved Maahi Mahima Tum Gaaee, Akath Anaadi Bhed Nahin Paaee.
The Vedas sing Your glory, yet Your beginningless, infinite nature remains a mystery.

प्रकटी उदधि मंथन में ज्वाला। जरत सुरासुर भए विहाला॥
Prakati Udadhi Manthan Mein Jwaala, Jarat Suraasur Bhae Vihaala.
During the ocean’s churning, deadly poison emerged, burning both gods and demons.

कीन्ही दया तहं करी सहाई। नीलकण्ठ तब नाम कहाई॥
Keenhi Daya Tahan Kari Sahaai, Neelkanth Tab Naam Kahaai.
You showed compassion and drank the poison, earning the name “Neelkanth” (blue-throat).

पूजन रामचन्द्र जब कीन्हा। जीत के लंक विभीषण दीन्हा॥
Poojan Ramchandra Jab Keenhaa, Jeet Ke Lank Vibhishan Deenhaa.
When Lord Rama worshipped You, he won the war and gave Lanka to Vibhishana.

सहस कमल में हो रहे धारी। कीन्ह परीक्षा तबहिं पुरारी॥
Sahas Kamal Mein Ho Rahe Dhaari, Keenhi Pareeksha Tabahin Puraari.
When Vishnu offered a thousand lotuses, You decided to test his devotion.

एक कमल प्रभु राखेउ जोई। कमल नयन पूजन चहं सोई॥
Ek Kamal Prabhu Rakheu Joi, Kamal Nayan Poojan Chahan Soi.
One lotus was missing, so Lord Vishnu wished to offer his own lotus-eye to complete the offering.

कठिन भक्ति देखी प्रभु शंकर। भए प्रसन्न दिए इच्छित वर॥
Kathin Bhakti Dekhi Prabhu Shankar, Bhae Prasann Diye Ichchhit Var.
Seeing his intense devotion, Lord Shankar became pleased and granted him the desired boon.

जय जय जय अनन्त अविनाशी। करत कृपा सब के घटवासी॥
Jai Jai Jai Anant Avinaashi, Karat Kripa Sab Ke Ghatvaasi.
Victory to You, O infinite and eternal One, who shows mercy and lives in all hearts.

दुष्ट सकल नित मोहि सतावै। भ्रमत रहौं मोहि चैन न आवै॥
Dusht Sakal Nit Mohi Sataavai, Bhramat Rahun Mohi Chain Na Aavai.
Wicked people trouble me constantly, and I wander restlessly without peace.

त्राहि त्राहि मैं नाथ पुकारो। येहि अवसर मोहि आन उबारो॥
Traahi Traahi Main Naath Pukaaaro, Yehi Avasar Mohi Aan Ubaaaro.
I cry out to You, O Lord. Please come and save me in this moment of distress.

लै त्रिशूल शत्रुन को मारो। संकट ते मोहि आन उबारो॥
Lai Trishool Shatrun Ko Maaro, Sankat Te Mohi Aan Ubaaro.
Take up Your trident and destroy my enemies. Deliver me from this great trouble.

मात-पिता भ्राता सब होई। संकट में पूछत नहिं कोई॥
Maat-Pita Bhrata Sab Hoi, Sankat Mein Poochat Nahin Koi.
Even parents and brothers turn away in trouble; none come to help in times of crisis.

स्वामी एक है आस तुम्हारी। आय हरहु मम संकट भारी॥
Swaami Ek Hai Aas Tumhaari, Aay Harahu Mam Sankat Bhaari.
O Lord, You are my only hope. Please come and remove my deep distress.

धन निर्धन को देत सदा हीं। जो कोई जांचे सो फल पाहीं॥
Dhan Nirdhan Ko Det Sadaa Hee, Jo Koi Jaanche So Phal Paahin.
You always give to both rich and poor alike; whoever seeks from You, surely receives the fruit.

अस्तुति केहि विधि करैं तुम्हारी। क्षमहु नाथ अब चूक हमारी॥
Astuti Kehi Vidhi Karai Tumhaari, Kshamahu Naath Ab Chook Hamaari.
How shall I praise You, O Lord? Please forgive my mistakes and shortcomings.

शंकर हो संकट के नाशन। मंगल कारण विघ्न विनाशन॥
Shankar Ho Sankat Ke Naashan, Mangal Kaaran Vighn Vinaashan.
O Shankar, You are the destroyer of all troubles, the cause of auspiciousness, and the remover of all obstacles.

योगी यति मुनि ध्यान लगावैं। शारद नारद शीश नवावैं॥
Yogi Yati Muni Dhyaan Lagaavai, Shaarad Naarad Sheesh Navaavai.
Yogis, sages, and ascetics meditate on You; even Saraswati and Narad bow before You.

नमो नमो जय नमः शिवाय। सुर ब्रह्मादिक पार न पाय॥
Namo Namo Jai Namah Shivaaya, Sur Brahmaadik Paar Na Paaya.
Salutations to You again and again — victory and praise to Lord Shiva! Even gods like Brahma cannot comprehend Your greatness.

जो यह पाठ करे मन लाई। ता पर होत है शम्भु सहाई॥
Jo Yah Paath Kare Man Laai, Taa Par Hot Hai Shambhu Sahaai.
Whoever recites this hymn with devotion, Lord Shambhu surely becomes their helper.

ऋणियां जो कोई हो अधिकारी। पाठ करे सो पावन हारी॥
Riniyaan Jo Koi Ho Adhikaari, Paath Kare So Paavan Haari.
Even a person in debt or suffering — if eligible — will be purified by reciting this hymn.

पुत्र होन कर इच्छा जोई। निश्चय शिव प्रसाद तेहि होई॥
Putra Hon Kar Ichchha Joi, Nishchay Shiv Prasaad Tehi Hoi.
Anyone desiring a child shall surely be blessed with one by Shiva's grace.

पण्डित त्रयोदशी को लावे। ध्यान पूर्वक होम करावे॥
Pandit Trayodashi Ko Laave, Dhyaan Poorvak Hom Karaave.
One should invite a priest on Trayodashi and perform a sacred fire ritual with proper meditation.

त्रयोदशी व्रत करै हमेशा। ताके तन नहीं रहै कलेशा॥
Trayodashi Vrat Karai Hamesha, Taake Tan Nahin Rahai Kalesha.
Whoever observes the Trayodashi fast regularly will never suffer bodily afflictions.

धूप दीप नैवेद्य चढ़ावे। शंकर सम्मुख पाठ सुनावे॥
Dhoop Deep Naivedya Chadhaave, Shankar Sammukh Paath Sunaave.
Offer incense, lamp, and food offerings while reciting this hymn before Lord Shankar.

जन्म जन्म के पाप नसावे। अन्त धाम शिवपुर में पावे॥
Janm Janm Ke Paap Nasaave, Ant Dhaam Shivpur Mein Paave.
This destroys sins of countless lifetimes, and in the end, grants residence in Shiva’s eternal abode.

कहैं अयोध्यादास आस तुम्हारी। जानि सकल दुःख हरहु हमारी॥
Kahain Ayodhya Daas Aas Tumhaari, Jaani Sakal Dukh Harahu Hamaari.
Ayodhya Das says — You are my hope, O Lord. Knowing my pains, please take them all away.
